MJ Films
Actor Showreels
An actor’s showreel is often the first thing a casting director watches, so it needs to make an impression quickly. MJ Films creates cinematic showreels that present performances clearly and professionally, allowing actors to showcase their range and ability with confidence. Whether you already have footage that needs shaping into a concise reel or require new material filmed specifically for your portfolio, the aim is always the same: highlight your strongest moments and make them easy for casting professionals to see.
Showreels are edited with careful pacing, clean sound, and a clear structure so your performance remains the focus. New scenes can also be filmed to demonstrate different character types, helping you present a broader range when applying for roles or approaching agents. With professional lighting, framing, and editing, MJ Films produces actor showreels that look polished, focused, and ready for industry use.
Often filming between Cardiff and Bristol, we create professional showreel scenes tailored to actors. You can perform a monologue or a scripted scene with your acting partner on screen, or with them reading opposite you off camera. You’re welcome to bring your own partner, or we can arrange a professional actor for you for just £200.

How long should an actor's reel be?
Most casting directors prefer showreels between 1–3 minutes. The goal is to present your strongest moments quickly so your acting ability is clear within the first few seconds.
Do I need my own script?
No. Scripts can be developed with you to suit your casting type. Scenes are designed to highlight your strengths and create material that works well for your showreel.
How many scenes can we film in a day?
No more than three short scenes filmed during a full day filming session. This gives you contrasting material to demonstrate range and create a well-rounded showreel.
Where does filming take place?
Filming usually takes place at a location you secure. Simple setups are used to keep the focus on performance. Good parking close by for our gear is essential.
When will I receive my finished showreel?
Editing normally takes a few days after filming. You’ll receive a finished showreel ready to upload to casting platforms such as Spotlight or to send to agents. Within 7 days.
