FILMING IN RICHMOND

PLAN THE SHOOT PROPERLY

Corporate video, interviews and event filming across Richmond upon Thames

Start with what the film needs to do

The useful question is not how much kit we can bring. It is what you need viewers to understand, who needs to be interviewed and what footage will make the story believable. The cameras, lighting and crew follow from that.

Public locations need more notice

If the filming stays inside your own premises, the planning can be very straightforward. If it moves onto streets, Richmond Green or other borough-controlled locations, commercial filming may need an application through FilmRichmond. Their current guidance asks for at least two weeks’ notice, with longer lead times where parking or traffic restrictions are involved.

Keep contributors filming, not waiting around

For interview days, we normally get the room, cameras, lighting and sound ready first and then bring contributors in at agreed times. That keeps senior staff and customers away from the camera for as little time as possible while leaving the rest of the day for b-roll and additional scenes.

The prettiest room is not always the best room

A huge window, hard walls, air conditioning or constant traffic can make a smart boardroom surprisingly difficult for interviews. We look at the sound, available depth, background and controllable light before deciding where to put the cameras.

Use Richmond as context, not decoration

Richmond Green, the riverside and recognisable streets can be useful when the location is genuinely part of the story. For most company films, though, the business and the people should remain the subject. We do not force scenic cutaways into an edit simply to prove where it was filmed.

One borough, very different filming locations

A boardroom near Richmond station, a school in Kew, a hotel by the river and an event venue in Twickenham are completely different jobs. We plan around the room, the people and the time available, then put the effort into the things viewers will actually notice: the interview, the sound, the lighting and the footage that supports what is being said.

Interviews without losing half the day

We prepare the room first, then bring contributors in when the cameras are ready. One good setup can cover several people without repeatedly rebuilding the shoot.

B-roll that actually adds information

Rather than collecting random office shots, we look for the work, people, products, property or processes that make the interview more useful to watch.

Full talks and shorter event films

A conference can produce complete presentations, highlights and social clips from the same coverage when those outputs are agreed before the event.

Filming support for agencies

If your team already has the creative and edit covered, book us for camera, lighting and sound and take away organised raw footage afterwards.

One filming day can produce more than one useful film

An interview-led shoot does not have to end with a single three-minute video. If the outputs are agreed beforehand, the same day can also provide shorter edits, social clips, clean b-roll, still frames and footage for future use.

That is much easier to do properly when we know the intended formats before filming, rather than trying to rescue a vertical crop from a shot that was composed only for widescreen.

TWO WAYS TO WORK WITH US

Full production or filming-only support

We handle the complete job

Planning, interviews, filming, editing, captions and final delivery can all stay with us, so there is one production contact from the initial brief through to the finished files.

Your team handles the edit

Agencies and in-house teams can book us purely for the filming. We can shoot interviews, b-roll, events, property or workplace footage and supply clearly organised camera and audio files for your own post-production.

VIDEO PRODUCTION RICHMOND FAQ

Questions about filming in Richmond upon Thames

How much does video production in Richmond cost?

There is no separate Richmond price list. Cost comes down to filming time, crew, equipment, editing and the number of finished versions you need. A focused interview or case-study day can stay relatively compact; an event, several locations or a larger content package may need more people and more post-production.

Can you film in our Richmond office?

Yes. Most corporate interviews are filmed at the client’s own premises. We can work in boardrooms, offices, meeting rooms and other occupied spaces, and we will tell you what sort of room is likely to work before the shoot if you send photographs or a quick phone video.

Do I need permission to film in Richmond?

Usually not if the entire shoot is taking place inside private premises with the owner’s permission. Commercial filming on streets or other borough-controlled locations can be different, so we check the current FilmRichmond requirements when public space forms part of the brief.

Can we film several interviews in one day?

Yes, and it is often the most efficient way to work. Once the interview setup is ready, contributors can come in one after another while separate blocks of time are kept for workplace footage, demonstrations and other supporting shots.

Can you film conferences and presentations?

Yes. We can record individual talks, panels and complete sessions with one or several cameras, and provide anything from full-length recordings to a short event film, social clips or a live stream.

Can you supply the raw footage?

Yes. If your agency or internal team is editing, we can supply the camera originals and separately recorded audio in an agreed folder structure rather than building an unnecessary edit into the quote.

Do you cover the rest of South West London?

Yes. We also film in Kingston upon Thames, Wimbledon, Putney, Wandsworth, Sutton and surrounding areas. See video production across South West London.

Do you work elsewhere in London?

Yes. For shoots elsewhere in the capital, see our main London video production page.

SOCIAL VIDEO IN 2026

Need vertical clips? Plan for them before we film.

A landscape corporate film can be cropped for a phone afterwards, but that is not the same as shooting with vertical delivery in mind. If Reels, TikTok, Shorts or mobile ads are part of the brief, we leave enough room around faces, graphics and action to make the alternative crops work properly.

One filming day can then produce a 16:9 master for websites and YouTube, 9:16 vertical versions for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, and 4:5 portrait edits where a taller feed format is useful.

Tell us where, who is on camera and what you need delivered

Send the Richmond postcode, preferred date, who needs to appear and where the finished video will be used. From that we can usually tell you the sensible crew size, how long the filming is likely to take and whether anything such as public-location permission needs dealing with beforehand.
