INDUCTION VIDEO CASE STUDY

Oil depot induction filming inside a live operational site.

Two days filming at Greenergy's Cardiff depot, creating audience-specific versions for drivers, visitors, contractors and staff while working within controlled access and safety requirements.

PROJECT AT A GLANCE

Greenergy · Cardiff

Filming: Two days on site

Deliverables: Versions for drivers, visitors, contractors and staff

On camera: Professional actor

Access: Supervised throughout filming

THE BRIEF

Understand the site before filming

Before filming, we watched the depot's existing induction video and took the same test required for people entering the site. That meant we were familiar with the rules and procedures before the shoot started.

Filming then took place across two days at the Cardiff facility, with controlled access and supervision throughout.

The material was used to create versions for drivers, visitors, contractors and staff, keeping the core site information consistent while changing the detail for each audience.

Filmed at the real operational site

Drivers, visitors, contractors and staff each received the information relevant to their role from the same core production material.

AERIAL PLANNING

Airspace permission arranged in advance

The depot sits within the Cardiff docks area, so the aerial work required the appropriate permission before the filming day.

FILMING ON A CONTROLLED SITE

Work within the depot's access requirements

An operational oil depot is not a location where a film crew can simply roam around looking for shots. We were supervised throughout the production and worked with the site team to reach the required areas safely.

Having completed the existing induction and test beforehand meant the rules were already familiar. That helped us use the two filming days efficiently while respecting the restrictions of the site.

The practical lesson: preparation was not just a production convenience here. Understanding the site's rules, access restrictions and aerial requirements was part of being able to film the job at all.
