EXPLAINER VIDEO PRODUCTION UK

Explainer Video Production UK

Clear films for products, services, processes and technical subjects. We combine real demonstrations, interviews, screen recordings, graphics, voice-over and animation where it genuinely helps the explanation.

MJ Films works with businesses and organisations across the UK, shaping each film around what the viewer needs to understand and do next.

EXPLAINER VIDEO PRODUCTION UK

PLANNED AROUND THE BRIEF

EXPLAINER VIDEO EXAMPLE

Show the process instead of over-explaining it

Product Promo

A practical example of using real action, close detail and a simple structure to show how a product works.

Film the important detail

Close-ups, controlled angles and demonstrations can answer questions that are difficult to solve with copy alone.

START WITH THE QUESTION

What does the viewer need to understand?

An explainer works best when it has a specific job. That might be showing how a product is assembled, explaining a service, walking through a process or helping customers complete a task correctly.

We organise the script and shot list around those questions before filming. Real demonstrations can then be combined with close-ups, screen recordings, captions and voice-over without loading every idea into the narration.

For physical products, see our product demonstration video production. For reusable instruction, see training video production.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT APPROACH

Explainers do not all need to look the same

Filmed demonstrations

Show a real product, process or task with useful close-ups and a clear sequence.

Presenter or interview

Use a confident specialist or contributor to guide the explanation. See interview filming.

Screen-led explainers

Combine interface recordings, cursor movement, titles and voice-over for software or digital services.

Animation & graphics

Use motion graphics or animation where the subject cannot be shown clearly with filmed material alone.

THE EDIT IS PART OF THE EXPLANATION

Titles, callouts, screen recordings and animation

Some information only becomes clear once the filmed material reaches the edit. Labels can identify components, screen recordings can show software steps and simple graphics can reinforce a sequence without distracting from it.

Animation can also be produced when the subject needs it. We do not publish animation examples on this page; animation samples are available on request so we can send work relevant to the style or subject you are considering.

See our post-production service for editing and finishing support.

explainer animation

FILM IT WHEN FILMING MAKES SENSE

Not every explainer needs to be animated

If the viewer needs to see a real product, person, workplace or physical process, filming usually gives them more useful information than replacing it with illustration.

Animation and motion graphics are better suited to things that cannot easily be photographed: internal mechanisms, abstract services, data, diagrams or a process that would otherwise be difficult to follow.

Many projects use both. A filmed demonstration can carry the main story while graphics clarify individual details. For a wider company story rather than a step-by-step explanation, see our business video production or brand films.

EXPLAINER VIDEO FAQ

Questions to settle before production

Do we need a finished script before contacting you?

No. Your team normally provides the subject knowledge and we can help organise it into a clear structure, script, prompts or shot list.

Can you film a product or process at our workplace?

Yes. We regularly film demonstrations in offices, workshops, factories and other working environments, with access and safety requirements planned in advance.

Can you provide animation?

Yes. Animation or motion graphics can be added where they are the right way to explain the subject. Animation samples are sent privately on request.

Can you record software or screens?

Yes. Screen recordings can be combined with filmed material, captions, cursor movement and voice-over so the viewer can follow the required steps.

How long should an explainer video be?

Long enough to explain the subject clearly. A simple task may only need a short film, while technical training or a multi-stage process may work better as separate chapters.

How much does an explainer video cost?

Cost depends on planning, filming time, editing, graphics, animation and the number of finished versions. See pricing or send the brief for a quotation.

WHAT NEEDS EXPLAINING?

Send us the subject, audience and intended use

Tell us what people need to understand and where the finished film will be used. We will suggest a practical format and confirm what should be filmed, recorded or created in post-production.
