READY FOR THE CALL SHEET
DIRECT CAMERA-OPERATOR SUPPORT
Join the production at exactly the level it needs
For agencies, broadcasters, producers and in-house teams, the job can be as simple as supplying an experienced operator and the right kit. Smaller factual, documentary, corporate and branded productions can also use a self-shooting director setup.
The working style can stay observational and low-profile or become more controlled with lighting, sound and a larger camera package. Raw footage and post-production are both available where needed.
01 · BRIEF
Work from a supplied brief or shot list
Agree camera settings, frame rates, picture profile, lenses, shot priorities and delivery requirements before the call so the footage drops cleanly into the wider production.
02 · ROLE
Main camera, B-camera or self-shooting director
Use a self-contained principal camera package, slot into an existing crew, or combine camera operation with contributor interviews and story-led coverage.
03 · EPK / BTS
Keep behind-the-scenes filming unobtrusive
A small footprint, quick repositioning and awareness of the main unit help capture useful material without getting in the way.
04 · HANDOVER
Hand over organised footage
Rushes can be supplied in an agreed folder structure, with syncing or prepared media included where that forms part of the brief.
FREELANCE CAMERA OPERATOR SERVICES

CAMERA & PRODUCTION KIT
A lean FX6 / FX5 package that can expand when the brief needs it
EPK and documentary jobs may need speed and a small footprint. Interviews, branded content and more controlled work can add lighting, monitoring, audio and movement support.

EPK / BTS
Know when to disappear into the background
The useful moments often happen between the obvious ones. Rehearsals, preparation, resets, crew activity and quick comments can matter as much as the scheduled interview.
EPK & BTS CAMERA WORK
Capture the material around the production without becoming the production
EPK and behind-the-scenes filming needs a different instinct from principal photography. The camera operator has to anticipate useful moments, work around restricted access and resets, recognise when the main crew needs space, and still come away with material that can build a coherent piece.
Coverage can include cast and crew interviews, director or producer comments, rehearsals, preparation, location details, working shots, equipment, atmosphere and observational material between takes.
The setup can stay compact and handheld when mobility matters, or use controlled lighting and sound for scheduled interviews. Footage can go to an existing EPK producer or editor, or move through MJ Films post-production when a finished piece is required.
FILMING ONLY OR COMPLETE PRODUCTION
Hand over the rushes or take the production through the edit
01 · FILMING ONLY
Raw footage for your editor or agency
Capture interviews, b-roll, factual material, events and drone footage to the required resolution, frame rate, picture profile and file structure.
Handover can be untouched camera originals or prepared editor-ready material.
02 · COMPLETE JOB
Editing and finished delivery
Take the same material through picture editing, colour, sound, music, titles, graphics and captions into finished EPK, interview, case-study, factual or campaign content.
FROM BRIEF TO HANDOVER

Technical match
Agree resolution, frame rate, picture profile, codec, lenses, audio and camera-matching requirements before production.
03 · ACCESS
Call sheet & access
Review arrival, parking, accreditation, restricted areas, contributor timings and the parts of the schedule that matter most.
04 · SHOOT

05 · HANDOVER
Media handover
Supply rushes in the agreed format and folder structure, with the drive or transfer method planned around the amount of material.
06 · POST
Edit if required
Where the brief includes post-production, carry the footage through interviews, EPK, factual, branded, case-study or campaign edits.
