PLANNING A SCOTLAND SHOOT

START WITH THE ITINERARY

A good Scotland production starts with a realistic schedule

What to send with an enquiry

The useful starting information is the location, date, audience, contributors, access times and the finished videos you need. If there are several sites, include all addresses from the start.

That lets us plan travel, accommodation, parking, loading, setup time and the most efficient order for filming rather than adding those details at the end.

How many locations are realistic in one day?

It depends on travel, parking, access and setup. Several nearby interviews can work well; moving between distant sites, cities or secure premises can quickly consume the filming day.

What changes between an office, event and working site?

An office may need a compact interview setup. Events often need several cameras and a soundboard feed. Construction or industrial work can require PPE, longer lenses, inductions and stricter access planning.

Can one shoot create several versions?

Yes. A main landscape film, vertical social edits, individual interviews, testimonials, stills or reusable B-roll can often come from the same planned production.

What about remote or Highland locations?

We build weather, daylight, travel, accommodation and access into the production plan rather than assuming the same schedule that would work in a city-centre office.

Different briefs need different filming approaches

A boardroom interview in Edinburgh, a conference in Glasgow, a working site near Aberdeen and a multi-location campaign are different productions. We plan around the people, access and time available, then put the effort into the footage the audience will actually notice.

CREW OPTIONS IN SCOTLAND

We can travel — or put a trusted Scottish crew on the job

For productions where you want MJ Films on location, we travel to Scotland with the camera, lighting and sound package required for the brief. Travel, accommodation and other agreed expenses are quoted separately.

We also have a solid network of experienced camera operators in Scotland. That can be the more efficient option for straightforward interviews, b-roll, events, pickups or multi-location work, while MJ Films can still coordinate the brief and post-production so the finished material stays consistent.

SCOTLAND VIDEO PRODUCTION FAQ

Practical questions before filming

The useful decisions are usually about access, travel, contributors, weather and the final versions required.

Do you travel throughout Scotland?

Yes. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee, Stirling, Perth, Inverness and wider Scottish locations can all be quoted.

Can you film at working sites?

Yes, where access, safety, staff, machinery and any restricted areas are agreed beforehand.

Can drone footage be included?

Yes, subject to weather, airspace, permissions, safe take-off areas and the location itself.

Can one day create several videos?

Often, yes, if the separate outputs are planned before filming and the day has enough time for the necessary coverage.

How is travel priced?

Travel to Scotland, accommodation and parking are additional where required and are shown clearly in the quotation. For suitable briefs we can also use experienced camera operators from our Scottish network.

What should we send for a quote?
