ACTORS FOR VIDEO PRODUCTION UK

Professional actors for corporate, training and creative video

Not everyone wants to appear on camera, and sometimes a scripted performance is simply the better choice. MJ Films can source and film actors who present approved information, guide viewers through a site, demonstrate a scenario or play a character in a narrative production.

WHEN REAL STAFF AREN'T THE RIGHT CHOICE

Put the right person in front of the camera

Use actors instead of reluctant staff

If nobody in the team is comfortable presenting, there is no reason to force it. A professional actor can deliver the approved script naturally and repeat sections consistently across multiple takes or versions.

Keep real staff in the film without identifying them

Where useful, your own staff can still appear as part of the real working environment without becoming on-camera contributors. We can frame people from behind, from the neck down, at a distance or out of focus where that suits the brief.

Use performance where the scene needs interaction

Training situations, customer interactions, safety demonstrations and story-led scenes usually work better when the people involved are happy to repeat actions, take direction and perform to a planned script.

WHERE ACTORS FIT

One casting service, several kinds of production

The role is shaped around what the film needs to do. Actors can present information directly, perform a practical scenario or carry a complete narrative.

1

Present the company

Use an actor as a presenter or host for an approved welcome, explanation, product introduction or guided piece to camera.

2

Stage real-world scenarios

Recreate customer, workplace, safety or training situations without asking employees to perform unfamiliar roles on camera.

3

Lead tours and demonstrations

A presenter can walk viewers through a building, process or product while keeping the delivery controlled and consistent.

4

Carry the story

Actors can take character roles in TV-style ads, branded shorts, social campaigns and narrative music videos.

FROM BRIEF TO FILMING DAY

Cast the role around the script, audience and budget

We arrange actors as part of the production and cast to the role, audience and budget.

01 — Define the role

Who do they represent, what must they say or do, who are they speaking to and where will the film be seen?

02 — Set the level and budget

That might mean an emerging working actor, an experienced presenter or, where the campaign justifies it, recognisable talent.

03 — Shortlist and approve

We can use profiles, showreels and self-tapes, then agree rates, travel and usage before anybody is booked.

04 — Rehearse and film

We block and direct the scene on the day. Where interaction matters, two or more actors usually give the edit much more to work with.

ACTORS FOR VIDEO FAQ

Questions worth settling before we cast

Why use a professional actor instead of one of our employees?

Your own people can be excellent on camera when they are comfortable doing it. A professional actor becomes useful when the film needs scripted dialogue, repeated actions, a staged situation or confident presentation. They are used to taking direction and repeating a performance consistently, while genuine staff can still appear naturally in the workplace.

See training video production →

How do you choose the right actor for our company or brand?

We cast around the role rather than simply looking for “an actor”. Playing age, manner, accent, appearance, authority, warmth, energy and presenting ability can all matter. The person should feel credible for the organisation and the audience they are speaking to.

See commercial video production →

Can you work to our casting budget?

Yes. Tell us the budget before we start casting. A straightforward corporate or training role may suit an emerging or working actor who is happy to add another paid filming day to their schedule. A larger campaign may justify an experienced presenter, established performer or recognisable face. We shortlist at the level the production actually needs rather than forcing every client into the same price bracket.

Can actors be used to stage workplace or customer scenarios?

Yes. This is one of the strongest reasons to use them. Training situations, customer conversations, safety demonstrations, interviews, incidents and procedural scenes can be rehearsed and repeated from different camera angles without putting employees under pressure to perform. Two actors are often useful where genuine interaction is important.

See induction video production →

Can we approve the actors before they are booked?

Yes. Suitable people can be shortlisted using photographs, profiles and showreels. For an important speaking role we can also request a short self-tape using part of the script, giving the client a much better sense of delivery before the booking is confirmed.

How do actor fees and usage rights work?

The filming fee is only one part of actor pricing. Where the video will appear, how long it will be used, the territory, exclusivity and whether it is internal training, organic online content or paid advertising can affect the final rate. We establish the intended use before booking and show performer costs clearly within the production quote.

FOR ACTORS

Interested in working on an MJ Films production?

MJ Films is a video production company rather than an acting agency, but we occasionally need actors and presenters for paid client films, adverts, training scenarios and narrative projects. We are happy to hear from performers at different stages of their careers.

If you would like to be considered for a suitable future brief, send a current headshot, showreel or portfolio link, playing age, location, travel range, relevant accents or skills and your usual day rate. We cannot promise work or reply to every submission; casting is based on the requirements and budget of each production.

If you need new performance material first, see our actor showreel filming.

CASTING AS PART OF THE PRODUCTION

Need somebody confident in front of the camera?

Send us the idea, script or rough brief and tell us who the performer needs to represent, what they need to do and where the finished video will be used.
