VIDEO PRODUCTION COTSWOLDS
Location-led films across the Cotswolds.
Hospitality, estate, property, tourism, business and event films across the Cotswolds.
MJ Films works with hotels, country houses, estates, venues, tourism businesses, organisations and brands, combining interviews, interiors, landscape, food, service, property detail, events and aerial footage where the location is part of the story.
COTSWOLDS LOCATION FILMING
PLAN AROUND THE PLACE
LOCATION-LED PRODUCTION
Let the location add something to the film without letting it dictate the whole production day
Country hotels, estates, villages, farms, restaurants, gardens and historic properties all bring different access, light, sound and weather considerations. Planning those details early means the architecture, landscape and activity can work for the film instead of creating avoidable delays.
✓Start with access and guest movement. Narrow roads, limited loading and guest areas need to be planned before the crew arrives.
✓Plan interiors and exteriors around useful light. Rooms, gardens, terraces and wide views can change dramatically through the day.
✓Use interviews without losing the sense of place. Owners, staff, customers and specialists can carry the message while architecture and landscape support what they are saying.
✓Treat weather as part of the production plan. Outdoor and aerial filming depend on wind, rain, cloud and seasonal daylight.
✓Capture enough detail for several edits. Food, rooms, signage, gardens, craft, service, products and close detail give the edit useful variety.
CHIPPING NORTON CASE STUDY
A four-hour furniture business shoot for a website banner film and photography
One morning, two useful deliverables
This project for a furniture-making business in Chipping Norton was completed in a four-hour morning shoot. The brief was to create a banner video for the website and capture a set of photographs during the same visit.
It is a good example of why a production does not need to become large to be useful. The filming and photography were planned together so the client could come away from one short session with both moving-image and still content.

VIDEO PRODUCTION SERVICES IN THE COTSWOLDS
Build the production around the place and the audience
Hospitality, estates, properties, businesses and events all need different coverage. The production can stay compact or scale when the brief genuinely needs more crew and equipment.
Hotels, venues & hospitality
Promotional films built around interiors, food, service, people and the character of the location.
Estates, property & destinations
Ground-camera and aerial coverage that shows buildings, grounds, setting and the wider visitor experience.
Business stories & interviews
Natural interviews supported by useful b-roll from the real workplace, service or customer experience.
Events & live occasions
Conference, launch, performance and live-event coverage with one or several cameras.
Drone & aerial filming
Aerial footage for estates, venues, rural businesses and properties where scale and setting matter.
Agency & film crew support
Camera, sound, lighting and organised footage for agencies, producers and in-house teams.
RIGHT-SIZE THE PRODUCTION
Keep the footprint small where the property benefits from it
Historic interiors, boutique hotels, restaurants, private estates and busy visitor locations often benefit from a compact crew that can move quickly and avoid taking over the space.
Larger commercial shoots, events and multi-location campaigns can then add the people and equipment the brief actually needs.
✓Compact hotel or estate filming. Interviews, hospitality content, rooms, food, gardens and property detail with minimal disruption.
✓Add photography to the same visit. Stills can be captured alongside the video where the schedule allows, or a dedicated photographer can be added.
✓Add drone footage where useful. Aerials can establish estates, hotels, venues and rural businesses, subject to airspace, permissions, weather and operating conditions.
✓Scale for events and larger campaigns. Additional camera, sound, lighting and production support can be added for larger properties, events or several locations.
Campaigns can continue into Gloucestershire, Oxford and Cheltenham.

COTSWOLDS VIDEO PRODUCTION FAQ
Planning location-led video that works harder
The useful questions are not whether video can be filmed here, but what the audience needs to see, how the location should be used and what other content the same production day can create.
Free planning tools
What makes a strong promotional film for a Cotswolds hotel, venue or estate?
Start with the experience you want people to imagine, not a list of facilities. The strongest films usually combine a clear message with the details that make the place distinctive: arrival, interiors, service, food, people, grounds, atmosphere and the wider setting.
Decide what the viewer should understand or do after watching, then plan the interviews and location footage around that.
How should one filming day be planned for the website and social cut-downs?
Plan the outputs before filming. A main landscape film can be captured alongside shorter LinkedIn, Instagram or vertical edits, but the framing, interview answers and supporting shots need to allow for those versions from the start.
Concise standalone answers and footage with room to crop make the shorter edits feel intentional rather than like leftovers from the main film.
How do you film a busy hospitality location without disrupting guests?
Build the day around the parts of the property that are actually available. Rooms, restaurants, kitchens, gardens and public areas can be scheduled in short windows around check-in, service, cleaning and guest movement.
A compact crew is often an advantage because it can move quickly, but the important part is agreeing access and priority shots before the filming day.
What should be captured for a property or estate film beyond the obvious wide shots?
The wide views establish the place; the details make it feel real. Useful coverage can include entrances, room features, materials, signage, food, staff interaction, gardens, paths, views, practical amenities and small moments of service or activity.
Those details also give the editor the material needed for shorter versions and help avoid a film made entirely from slow exterior shots.
How can a case-study interview still feel connected to the location?
Let the interview explain the experience, result or story, then use the real location as evidence around it. That might mean the customer using the service, staff at work, a finished room or project, a product being made, or details of the environment the contributor is talking about.
The b-roll should support what is being said rather than simply decorate the interview.

How should weather, seasonal light and drone filming be planned in the Cotswolds?
Exterior work is easiest when the schedule has some flexibility. Light changes through the day and season, while wind, rain and low cloud can affect both ground filming and aerial work.
For a property or estate, we normally decide which exterior and aerial shots matter most, then fit them around the usable conditions rather than leaving every outdoor shot until the end of the day.
VIDEO PRODUCTION ACROSS THE COTSWOLDS
Cotswold towns, villages and surrounding production areas
The Cotswolds crosses several counties, so production is planned as a region rather than a single city. Travel, parking, public access, weather, seasonal daylight and the number of locations are considered together.
