We plan around access, inductions, machinery cycles, staff availability and safety requirements, then build the crew and equipment around what actually needs to be captured. Film the operation without getting in the way of it
Industrial filming works best when the production plan follows the reality of the site. Some processes happen continuously; others only happen at a particular point in a shift, during a loading window or when a specific team is available. Those timings matter more than forcing every shot into a generic call sheet.
Before filming we can identify the interviews, machinery, production stages, working areas and detail shots that matter most. That makes it easier to capture useful interview footage and supporting b-roll in the same visit, while keeping the footprint proportionate to the site.
Confirm access, inductions and PPE before the shoot
Parking or unloading, site induction, PPE standards, escorts, restricted areas and any permit-to-work requirements should be confirmed before the crew arrives. That avoids losing useful filming time to practical issues that could have been settled in advance.
Build the shot list around machinery cycles and shifts
Production schedules, maintenance windows, loading, cleaning, changeovers and staff availability can determine when particular shots are possible. The filming plan follows those windows rather than asking the site to stop unnecessarily.
Keep the crew footprint proportionate
A compact crew is often the best fit for an active workplace. A single freelance camera operator and self-shooting director can cover straightforward interviews and process footage, with additional camera, sound, lighting or drone support added when the brief genuinely benefits from it.
Protect confidential processes and sensitive areas
Restricted screens, prototypes, commercially sensitive processes and areas that must not be filmed can be identified before the shoot. NDA requirements and review arrangements can also be agreed where appropriate.

What we bring to an industrial shoot
The kit is chosen around the location rather than brought in simply because it exists. On a live factory floor or operational site, compact equipment, fast setup and fewer unnecessary cables can matter just as much as image quality.
Where practical, the core camera, audio and compact lighting package can run from batteries. That reduces dependence on mains sockets, helps keep trailing power cables away from working areas and makes it easier to move between interviews, machinery and production spaces. Larger lighting or specialist setups can still be planned when the shot genuinely needs them.
Camera, sound and battery-powered lighting
Professional cinema cameras and lenses, tripods or gimbal support, radio and shotgun microphones, audio recording, monitoring, batteries and media. Compact LED lighting can be used on battery power where practical, keeping the setup mobile and helping minimise cables across working areas.
Standard site PPE
We can arrive with standard PPE including high-visibility clothing, safety boots, hard hats, safety glasses, gloves and hearing protection, with basic dust masks where appropriate. If your site requires a particular specification or specialist PPE, tell us before the booking so the requirement can be agreed properly.
A crew that can scale
Simple assignments can begin with one experienced self-shooting camera operator. A second camera operator, dedicated sound recordist, extra lighting, photography or professional aerial filming can be added when the coverage or location genuinely needs it.

Questions to settle before the crew arrives
Can you film while our factory or site remains operational?
Usually, yes. The filming plan can follow shifts, machine cycles, loading windows, maintenance and quieter periods so the site does not have to stop simply because a camera is present. Camera positions and access are agreed with the site contact, and any pause required for safety takes priority over the shot.
What do you need from us before the filming day?
We need a clear site contact, confirmed access and parking or unloading arrangements, induction and PPE requirements, any restricted or confidential areas, contributor availability and a list of processes or activities that must be captured. If a key machine only runs at a certain time, or a particular team is only available for part of the day, that should go into the schedule before filming starts.
What do you bring to an industrial shoot?
The package is built around the site, but a typical shoot can include professional cinema cameras and lenses, tripods or gimbal support, radio and shotgun microphones, audio recording, monitoring, batteries, media and compact LED lighting. Where practical, core gear can run on batteries so we can reduce trailing mains cables and move quickly between production areas.

How much can you realistically film in one production day?
A lot can be covered when the site is prepared and there is no unnecessary waiting around, but the answer depends on scale. One or two interviews plus a focused set of process and workplace shots may fit comfortably into a day. Several contributors, multiple buildings, long machine cycles, extensive lighting changes or large distances between filming areas need more time. We would rather plan a realistic day than rush important coverage and lose the chance for second takes.
How do you handle confidential processes, prototypes or sensitive information?
Restricted areas, screens, documents, prototypes and processes that must not appear can be identified during planning. We can work to agreed shot restrictions and NDA requirements, and review arrangements can be built into the job where appropriate. The aim is to capture enough visual evidence to make the film useful without exposing material the organisation needs to keep private.
Can you supply raw footage to our agency or in-house editor?
Yes. Filming-only assignments can be delivered as organised camera media for your own post-production team, with resolution, frame rate, picture profile, audio and file-handover requirements agreed before the shoot.
